S1•E4: The Art of Resurrection, 1803

Beginning with Luigi Galvani himself, this episode of Mania treads down a winding corridor that explores the same events and historical figures which inspired Mary Shelley’s The Modern Prometheus, also known as Frankenstein. It dissects the heart of the dark realities behind the gory moments of Galvanic reanimation.

Galvanism has a curious history with stranger characters still behind its main events. During a time when corpses were being sold illegally for scientific study, the clandestine experiments of anatomists and galvanic scientists were never quite so dark as then.

From frog legs to the corpses of murderers. In just the few years spanned in this episode, the art of resurrection has come a long, long way.
